Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Ballistics Board (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Description of Service
Ballistics Board is a free web-based tool that provides ballistic data for factory ammunition loads, side-by-side load comparison charts, a ballistic trajectory calculator, custom load tracking, and reviews of factory loads written by other shooters. The Service is provided “as is” and is intended for informational and educational purposes.
User Accounts
Some features (saving favorites, custom loads, writing reviews) require creating an account with a username, email, and password. Your username is shown publicly beside any review you publish; your email address never is. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree not to share your account or use another person's account without permission.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service in a manner that degrades performance for other users
- Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person
Reviews and Other Content You Post
Reviews are for sharing your own experience with a factory load or a bullet you have used — how it grouped, how it performed on game or on target, how consistent it was. By posting a review you confirm it is your own genuine experience, and you agree not to post anything that:
- Is fake, copied, written for someone else, or posted in exchange for payment, free product or any other reward
- Promotes a product, retailer or manufacturer you are connected to without saying so in the review
- Includes a powder charge or other reloading recipe — naming the powder you used is fine, the charge weight is not
- Advises using ammunition or firearms in ways their makers do not intend
- Is abusive, harassing, discriminatory, obscene or unlawful, or reveals anyone's personal information
- Is not about the load or bullet it is posted on
Reviews are the opinions of the people who write them, not of Ballistics Board. They never change the published data, charts or comparisons on the Service. An account's first review is checked before it appears. We may decline, edit for formatting, hide or remove any review at our discretion, including one that breaks these rules, and anyone may report a review they believe does. A review that looks like it includes a powder charge is checked before it appears, whoever wrote it.
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting it, you grant Ballistics Board a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to host, display, reproduce, excerpt and distribute it in connection with the Service — including in search engine structured data — and to transfer that licence to a successor to the Service. You can edit or delete your review at any time; deleting it removes it from the Service.
Ballistic Data Disclaimer
This is critical — please read carefully.
All ballistic data, calculated trajectories, and comparison results provided by Ballistics Board are approximations based on manufacturer specifications and standard drag models. They are intended for comparison and educational purposes only.
Real-world ballistic performance varies based on barrel length, ammunition lot, atmospheric conditions, firearm condition, and many other factors. Never rely solely on calculated data for safety-critical decisions. Always confirm zero, trajectory, and performance at the range with your specific firearm and ammunition before field use.
Ballistics Board is not a substitute for proper firearms training, safety practices, or professional guidance.
Intellectual Property
The Ballistics Board application, interface design, and original content are the property of Ballistics Board. Factory ammunition data is sourced from publicly available manufacturer specifications.
Custom loads you create remain your data. We claim no ownership over user-generated content; reviews are covered by the licence described under Reviews and Other Content You Post.
Aggregated, de-identified statistics derived from use of the Service — such as how often a given factory load or cartridge is compared, and how that changes over time — are our property, and we may publish, share or license them. These statistics describe the audience as a whole. They never identify you, and they are never derived from your custom loads, saved comparisons or DOPE cards. Our Privacy Policy describes exactly what is recorded.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ballistics Board and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to:
- Decisions made based on ballistic data or calculations provided by the Service
- Decisions made based on reviews or other content posted by users
- Loss of data, including saved favorites or custom loads
- Service interruptions or unavailability
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service at our discretion, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the Service.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
